Features and Benefits

The Lifeline plan pays for room charges, nursing charges, ICU charges, doctor's/surgeon fee, anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, etc. without any capping.

Sometimes procedures like diagnostic tests, medications, etc. can have a huge impact on your pocket. Lifeline covers these medical expenses incurred by you before hospitalization. Similarly, there may be expenses like follow up visit to the doctor, medication, further investigative test, etc. Lifeline covers these expenses incurred by you after hospitalization up to sum insured.

Lifeline covers all day care procedures (like dialysis, chemotherapy, etc) if you undergo a day care treatment at a hospital or day care centre that requires hospitalization of less than 24 hours.

The Lifeline plan covers organ donor expenses. It reimburses the medical expenses incurred by an organ donor while undergoing the organ transplant.

If you ever exhaust your health cover due to claims in a given year and there is a further claim either by you for a different illness or your insured family member, Royal Sundaram will reload the entire sum insured of the policy at no extra cost.

If due to your health condition you cannot be moved to a hospital or a bed is not available in the hospital, Royal Sundaram will reimburse the medical expenses incurred for treatment taken at home as long as it involves medical treatment for a period exceeding 3 days.

Royal Sundaram will cover the expense incurred on an ambulance for transferring you to the nearest hospital subject to acceptance of the hospitalization claim.

If you do not make any claim in a given policy year, the sum insured is increased by 20% (in case of Supreme & Elite) upto a maximum of 100% of sum insured and 10% (in case of Classic) upto a maximum of 50% of sum insured. As a loyalty benefit, there is no reduction of No Claim Bonus in case of a claim in any particular year.

Royal Sundaram provides a free health check-up which is a report card of your health. You are eligible for health check-up irrespective of your claim history. For Supreme & Elite, Royal Sundaram provides health check-up every year whereas for Classic, it is offered once in 2 years.

You will be provided with various preventive healthcare & wellness related activities like health related articles on your registered email ids. Disease Management initiatives for existing customers wherein for certain specified health risks such as heart,kidney,liver,cancer,hypertension,diabetes will be provided assistance to manage your health better through preventive check-ups, advise on nutrition, diet, exercise regime, wearables to monitor various health parameters etc. Any information provided under this will be recommendatory in nature and will not be substitute of doctor consultation.

Lifeline covers the medical expenses incurred for an inpatient care claim for taking treatment under ayurveda/homeopathy in a government hospital or in any institute recognized by government and/or accredited by Quality Council of India/National Accreditation Board on Health.

With Lifeline you can also claim medical expenses incurred on vaccination in case of animal bites like dog, honey bee, monkey, etc.

In case one is suffering from any of the specified 11 critical illnesses mentioned in the policy and feel uncertain about your diagnosis or wish to get a second opinion of an expert/doctor, Royal Sundaram can arrange for a second opinion without additional costs.

If you are stuck in an emergency due to accident or illness in India, with Lifeline, Royal Sundaram will assist to transport you safely from one hospital to another hospital to provide a suitable medical treatment.

Lifeline can cover medical expenses incurred (deductible of $1000) for any emergency hospitalization while you are abroad during business/leisure trip. So you need not worry about such expenses while you are away from your home and family. The base rate is covers all countries excluding US and Canada. However, you have an option to include US and Canada by paying additional premium.

If you want to get the treatment for 11 specified critical illness in any country of your choice, With Lifeline, Royal Sundaram can cover the medical expense (co-payment applicable) provided that such hospitalization has been pre-approved by Royal Sundaram. Please note that it is a cashless benefit, no reimbursement claims will be paid. Lifeline also covers for a return airfare up to Rs.3 lacs for insured person to be treated. The base rate covers all countries excluding US and Canada. However, you have an option to include US and Canada by paying additional premium.

Cover for medical expenses incurred for the delivery of baby or expenses related to medically recommended termination of pregnancy. Lifeline covers the new born baby till the next renewal of the policy as well as expenses incurred in first year on vaccination for new born baby. A 36 month waiting period applies to maternity benefit. Please note that both husband and wife should be covered under the same lifeline policy to avail this benefit.

Lifeline covers expenses incurred on Out Patient basis for doctor consultation, medicines as and Diagnostic Test as prescribed by a doctor upto a maximum of Rs.10,000. There is coverage available for dental OPD, cost of spectacles, contact lenses, hearing aid (once in 2 years with a sublimit of 30% of OPD sum insured).

You will be given a 7.5% and 12% tenure discount when you opt for a 2 & 3 year policy respectively.

Premium paid under the Policy shall be eligible for income tax deduction benefit under Sec 80 D as per the Income Tax Act 1961. (Tax benefits are subject to change in the tax laws, please consult your tax advisor for more details).

  • Hospital Cash -There are many out of pocket expenses like cab charges, attendant food expenses, etc. which are not covered under the normal hospitalization policies. Hospital cash pays a lump sum amount to cater to these miscellaneous expenses. We will pay for upto 30 days of hospitalization in a policy year if the stay of hospitalization is more than 2 days.
  • Include US and Canada for Worldwide Emergency Hospitalization and International Treatment for 11 specified Critical Illnesses. You can opt to include US and Canada for Worldwide Emergency Hospitalization and international treatment for 11 specified Critical Illness. This benefit can be opted at the inception of first policy with us.
  • Top Up Plan on Annual Aggregate Basis - Life Line provides a unique facility to be taken as a Top Up policy. If you are currently covered under another existing health insurance policy or have a group health cover provided by your employer, then Lifeline can be taken as a top up option to help you in the event of a large claim, which exceeds your existing sum insured limit.

  • This plan at inception has a free look period of 15 days from the date of receipt of policy. On review of the policy terms and conditions if you are not satisfied with this plan, you can cancel your plan within the 15 days free look period. You shall be eligible for a refund of premium, after deducting applicable risk premium, less the cost of medical examination incurred by the Company and stamp duty charges, where applicable, provided your intimation of cancellation reaches Royal Sundaram within the free look period. Your policy documents will reach you within 15 days from the date of debit of your card / account.
  • In case you cancel your coverage after the free look period, refund of premium shall be as per the short period rates mentioned in the policy.
