Rahul Saraf has been in his current role since 2021.

Rahul is the head of Citi’s Investment Bank (IB) in India. Citi IB has been consistently ranked as the leading IB franchise in India, advising marquee international and domestic clients across mergers and acquisitions (M&A), equity and debt transactions in India.

Rahul is a seasoned banker with over 28 years of experience across M&A and Capital Markets transactions. He personally leads coverage of large Indian conglomerates, industrials, infrastructure and clean-energy transition and has managed deals aggregating to over US$225 bn in value for clients. His deep understanding of the market and regulatory issues, along with his sectoral knowledge and strong client relationships, has helped Citi craft unique solutions for clients and win prestigious awards and recognitions over the years.

On M&A, Rahul has originated and delivered marquee transactions for clients across domestic and cross-border deals, local consolidation, corporate re-organizations, spin-offs, split-offs, take privates, private placements and joint ventures. On Capital Markets, his experience includes assisting clients in raising capital across equity (IPOs, Rights Issues, QIPs, InvIT) and debt (bonds, leveraged finance). Rahul is also active in offering strategic corporate advisory to clients.

Rahul is a qualified Chartered Accountant and CFA and holds a bachelors degree in Commerce from Shriram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. Before joining Citi in 2005, he worked with JM Morgan Stanley (2000-2005) and Arthur Andersen (1995-2000). In 2014, Fortune magazine included Rahul in its prestigious “40 under 40” list of top Indian entrepreneurs and professionals.

Outside of work, Rahul’s interests include photography, travel and playing table tennis.
