Interim CEO, Citi India
Pramit Jhaveri will act as interim CEO of Citi India through March 31, 2019, and has been appointed Vice-Chairman, Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory, Asia Pacific, based in Mumbai. He will take responsibility of his new role after a successor has been appointed.
Pramit will be responsible for enhancing key client relationships in the region with his deep knowledge of Citi’s business and the formation of Citi’s Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory business for a more focused and integrated coverage model for Citi’s institutional clients.
Pramit was previously Citi India CEO for close to nine years. Under his leadership, Citi India has won a number of awards. The institution has been recognized as Best International Bank and Best International Investment Bank by FinanceAsia, Best International Bank in India by Asiamoney, and Best Digital Consumer Bank as well as Best Corporate/Institutional Digital Bank by Global Finance in 2018. Citi India was also named Best Bank – Global, Best Corporate and Institutional Bank – Global, and Best Loan Advisor in 2018 and Digital Bank of the Year in 2017 by The Asset.
During the last seven years, Citi India has been widely recognized as the best performing foreign bank in India, across both consumer and corporate banking, has grown its business steadily and shown a consistent growth in profitability. Citi India's balance sheet is considered amongst the best performing in the Indian banking industry, with a net NPA level of 0.55% as of March 31, 2018.
Pramit joined Citi India in 1987 and his 32 years of banking experience spans across multiple areas of the industry. Pramit is on the Managing Committee of the Indian Banks Association and is a Director on the Global Board of U.S.-India Business Council, and Pratham Education Foundation. He is also on the Advisory Board of Catalyst India and on the Board of Trustees of India Foundation for the Arts.
He has a BCom degree from Sydenham College, Mumbai University, and an MBA in Finance and Economics from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, USA, from which he received the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
