Chief Executive Officer
Ashu Khullar is Chief Executive Officer of Citi India. Ashu is responsible for all of Citi's businesses in India.
In India, Citi employs around 30,000 people and serves customers ranging from top Indian corporate houses, financial institutions, and multinationals to mid and small corporates and startups. Citi India is a market leader in several areas, including foreign exchange, investment banking, cash management, trade, and e-commerce banking. In addition, a network of five Citi Solutions Centers serves Citi globally in areas including technology, analytics, risk management, operations, decision management and financial control.
Ashu has held several management positions at Citi. Prior to his current role, he was based in Hong Kong and was Head of the Capital Markets Origination (CMO) business for Asia Pacific across Equity, Bonds, Loans and Structured Financing. Earlier, he was based in London as Co-Head of Citi’s Corporate Banking business for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) that served 2,500 corporates, financial institutions and public sector clients. He has also headed Corporate Banking for Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) where he managed a team of 250 bankers. In a prior role, he was Co-Head of EMEA Loans, with oversight of the Project and Infrastructure Finance business. Ashu joined Citi in 1988 in India where he held the role of Senior Relationship Manager before moving to London in 1996 as Director for Emerging Markets Structuring and Syndications.
Ashu is a member of the National Executive Committee at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the Managing Committee of Indian Banks Association (IBA). He is also on the global Board of Directors at US India Business Council (USIBC).
Ashu graduated with a major in Commerce from Shriram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
