Know more about KYC documents updation & blocked accounts

Funds Transfer

I have received a communication to update my KYC by January 31, 2018 else my account will be blocked. What does this mean?

The deadline of 31st January 2018 was for updation of KYC (Know Your Customer) documents, which is applicable to a specific set of customers. As per Reserve Bank of India*, banks are required to periodically update KYC details. Also, as per these guidelines, banks will need to block accounts where the required documents are not provided. Since we would like you to continue to enjoy uninterrupted services, we requested you to submit the documents for KYC update. If you received a communication from us, asking for your KYC documents, it implied that your account / relationship is due for this updation. We urge you to submit the documents for KYC update.

Please note that this exercise is in addition to the linking of Aadhaar and PAN under Prevention of Money Laundering Second Amendment Rules, for which the deadline is March 31, 2018. You can, however, use the Aadhar as a KYC update document, in which case, your Aadhar linking requirement will also be done at our end. Do note, for KYC updation, it is important that you submit the document and not just provide the identity number of the document.

You can easily do so by:

  • Using the Citi Mobile India app#, with its 'Document Upload' feature
  • Logging in to Citibank Online and using the 'Submit Documents' feature there. Click here to upload.
  • Emailing self-attested scans of the document to cardskyc@citi.com (for Credit Card customers), bankingkyc@citi.com (for Banking customers), and mykycdocuments@citi.com (for NRI customers).
