How long will it take to update my Aadhaar number with Citi?

  • You will receive a confirmation message from Citi, after validating the Aadhaar number against the UIDAI database. In case of any further information required to process the request, we will communicate to you accordingly.

Can I update my Aadhaar number with Citi via SMS?

  • As per the recent guideline from UIDAI, we can no longer accept Aadhaar update requests via SMS with effect from Dec 5, 2017. Please login to Citibank Online, Citi Mobile or use the IVR facility at CitiPhone to update your Aadhaar. All SMS requests received on or before Dec 5, 2017 will be acted upon as per the earlier process.

  • As per the Prevention of Money Laundering Second Amendment Rules issued dated June 1, 2017, it is mandatory to update your Aadhaar number across all financial products, including bank accounts, credit cards, dmf account , personal loans and home loans.

  • Please re-check the Aadhaar number you have provided to Citi. In case it was incorrect, please re-submit the request with the correct Aadhaar number.

I had submitted a request for updating my Aadhaar number with Citi but my request was unsuccessful due to mismatch. What should I do?

The above scenario occurs most commonly if there is a mismatch of demographic information (name & date of birth) between Citi and UIDAI records.
To solve this, as a first step, please check your name and date of birth on your Aadhaar Card and Citi records.

How do I check?

Citi records - Please login to Citibank Online with your User ID and IPIN or refer to your cheque book or any other statement issued by the bank.

UIDAI records - Refer to your Aadhaar Card or download your e-Aadhaar from https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/

  • Scenario 1- Name or DOB incorrect in UIDAI: Edit your UIDAI records and resubmit your request by referring to the question – “How do I update my Aadhaar with Citi?”
  • Scenario 2 – Name or DOB is incorrect in Citi records:
    • Minor name mismatch: If the mismatch in the name between Citi and UIDAI records is minor (includes expansion of initials or minor differences in spelling), you can get your Aadhaar number updated with Citi by uploading a copy of your Aadhaar Card on Citibank Online or Citi Mobile App. Once the request is processed, you will receive a confirmation from us. Click here to submit it online.
    • Major name mismatch (includes change in surname after marriage, legal name change): In this case, please get your name updated in Citi records. Credit card customers can Click here to submit your documents online. For all other products, please visit your nearest branch to submit the required documents.
    • Date of Birth mismatch: In this case, please get your date of birth updated in Citi records. Credit card customers can Click here to submit your documents online. For all other products, please visit your nearest branch to submit the required documents.

I have uploaded my Aadhaar document but the same is still not updated. What should I do?

  • You will receive a confirmation message from Citi, after validating the Aadhaar number against the UIDAI database. While we try to update our records in the shortest possible time, in some cases there may be inadvertent delay on account of high volumes. In case any further information is required to process the request, we will communicate to you accordingly.

Please note:

Aadhaar number is required as per the Prevention of Money laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules, 2005 as amended from time .The Aadhaar number on your Aadhaar Card may be used by Citi to authenticate your Aadhaar number and demographic details (Information) against UIDAI database before updating your account and also share Information with its various departments, affiliates and service providers for any account to which you are signatory(ies) or an account holder or are availing banking services from Citibank currently or may do so in future.

Citi will use the Aadhaar number to offer banking and transaction services to you, as may be applicable.

Citi may use your demographic and biometric/OTP (One Time Password) (or any similar authentication mechanism) information for the purpose of Aadhaar based authentication/ e-KYC .
