Book Deposits, Edit Maturity Details and Liquidate Deposits via Citibank Online

If you are an existing Citibank customer and wish to book a deposit, edit maturity details or liquidate a deposit, log in to Citibank Online using your Username and Internet Password (IPIN) and select an option shown below as per requirement. In case you haven’t created your Citibank Online login. click here

A.Steps to Book a Deposit:

  1. Login to Citibank Online and select Banking -> Book Deposit -> Book New Deposit
  2. Enter Deposit details & Click Continue.
  3. Note: You can click on Interest Rate chart tab to check the interest rates applicable.

  4. Select from the list of your Accounts/Deposits from which you want to initiate booking of this deposits. Click Continue
  5. Enter the deposit amount to be booked in target currency & click Continue
  6. Re-verify the details entered, Read & Accept the terms & conditions -> Click Confirm

Congratulations you have successfully booked a deposit!!

B.Edit Maturity Instruction of your Deposit

You may change the maturity instruction of your booked deposit by logging in to Citibank Online. Here are easy steps to do so:

  1. To edit details , Click on Book deposit-> Edit Mat/Int tab
  2. Enter new Maturity details & Click continue
  3. You can choose to change the maturity instructions from ‘renewal’ to ‘credit to bank account’ and vice versa.

  4. Re confirm details & Click Continue
  5. Maturity details edited correctly.

C. Close/Liquidate your Deposit before maturity

Important Points to note:

  • Deposits marked for withdrawal or modification cannot be liquidated.
  • A deposit in withhold status cannot be liquidated.
  • Deposit blocked for regulatory purpose cannot be liquidated.
  • Assigned deposit cannot be liquidated (exception high risk country assignment)
  • If deposit is getting matured within 3 days from transaction initiation date, it cannot be liquidated. For instance, if the maturity date is 10-Jul-2019, and the number of maintained days is 3, the deposit cannot be liquidated on 08-Jul-2019.
  • NRO products’ deposit liquidation proceeds cannot go to NRE account

Please follow the steps below to Liquidate/close Deposit

Step 1: Click on Book deposit tab -> Close deposit

Step 2: Case 1 If you want to liquidate entire deposit

Select the account in which you want the amount to be credited & Click continue to proceed further. You can liquidate entire deposit subject to Terms & Conditions. In case of a premature withdrawal, penal interest will be applicable to the maturity amount. Refer the important information section above for more details.

Step 2: Case 2 If you want to liquidate part of the deposit

Select the account in which you want the amount to be credited. You can liquidate part of the deposit subject to Terms & Conditions. In case of a premature withdrawal, penal interest will be applicable to the maturity amount. Refer the important information section above for more details. Next enter the partial amount to be withdrawn & proceed further.

Pre-Termination Penalty The minimum tenor on the FCNR/NRE deposit is 1 year and NRO deposits is 7 days Pre-termination will be treated in line with the deposit policy in Ciitbank India. Click here to refer to the policy.
