How to download your Income Tax Statement

The deadline for filing your Income Tax Returns (ITR) has been extended to August 31, 2019.

One of the key documents to verify, before you file your returns, is Form 26AS. It is the consolidated tax statement for the year that you can view or download via Citibank Online. Citi makes the process of filing taxes simpler, by assembling your documents in one place.

Get your annual statements and 26AS by following this simple step-by-step guide:

The file once downloaded, whether in Text or PDF was earlier password protected, with the password as your Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format. However, it has now been removed and the downloaded form doesn’t require a password for access.

You also have the option to view or download the form via the Income Tax Department's e-filing website, incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Once you’ve downloaded the form, you can compare the tax credit figures in Form 26AS and Form 16 to make sure they match and avoid tax default.
