The deadline for filing your Income Tax Returns (ITR) has been extended to August 31, 2019.
One of the key documents to verify, before you file your returns, is Form 26AS. It is the consolidated tax statement for the year that you can view or download via Citibank Online. Citi makes the process of filing taxes simpler, by assembling your documents in one place.
Get your annual statements and 26AS by following this simple step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Login to www.citibank.co.in from a desktop/laptop
Step 2: Select ‘Banking’
Step 3: Click on ‘Tax Corner/Remit Tax’Your Tax Corner has all that you would need in one place, whether it’s downloading the necessary documents, remitting tax online or getting receipts.

Step 6: You’ll be redirected to the TDS-CPC (Tax Deducted at Source – Centralised Processing Cell) website, an initiative undertaken by the Income Tax Department (ITD) to enable easy filing of TDS/TCS correction statements, to view/download Form 26AS. The TDS-CPC website is operated by other parties and therefore requires you to click on the 'Continue' button that you are ok to proceed.
Step 7: Once redirected to the TRACES or TDS-CPS website, either register as new user or login with your existing details and click on 'View Form 26AS'.
Step 8: Under View/Verify Tax Credit, select 'Assessment Year' and ‘View As’ from the drop-down. You can download Form 26AS in either PDF or text format. For PDF, you have to click on 'HTML' and then on 'Export as PDF'. For Text, under 'View As', select 'Text' and click on 'View/Download'.
The file once downloaded, whether in Text or PDF was earlier password protected, with the password as your Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format. However, it has now been removed and the downloaded form doesn’t require a password for access.
You also have the option to view or download the form via the Income Tax Department's e-filing website, incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Once you’ve downloaded the form, you can compare the tax credit figures in Form 26AS and Form 16 to make sure they match and avoid tax default.
