What is a payment gateway?

A Payment Gateway is a system that passes Credit Card data, authorization requests, and authorization responses over the Internet using encryption technology.

The secure Citibank Payment Gateway allows the Cardmember to conduct secure transactions on the Internet using the industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, that enables 128-bit encryption of data transferred.

2.
What is SSL encryption?

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. This technology is designed to encrypt the text data sent from a website and then decrypt the information on the other side, i.e., the Citibank Processing Network.

The level of encryption is 128-bit, which is practically unbreakable.

3.
What kinds of Cards can be used on the Citibank Payment Gateway?
All major Credit Cards (except American Express Card), Diners Club Cards and Citibank ATM/Debit Cards can be used on the Citibank Payment Gateway.

4.
What's the difference between a Credit Card and a Debit Card?
A Credit Card allows a consumer to access funds in a credit line set aside for that user. When the purchase is made, and settlement occurs, funds are drawn from the credit line to make the payment. The outstanding reflects in the monthly statement of the Cardmember.

On the other hand, a Debit Card is a payment card whose funds are withdrawn directly from the cardholder's banking account. While transacting online, the cardholder will be required to enter the HPIN to authorize payment.

5.
Is there a transaction fee? If so, how much?
A nominal fee is charged as determined by an agreement between the Merchant Establishments and Citibank from time to time.

6.
What is CVV number and HPIN?
Citibank has pioneered the concept of HPIN (Internet password). An HPIN is the secure Internet Password that identifies if the actual owner of the Card is using the Citibank ATM/Debit Card.

The CVV number refers to the last 3 digits of the account panel on your Credit Card. Keying in of the CVV number ensures that the Card is in possession of the person conducting the online transaction.

7.
How can I transact online?
Online transactions are easy to carry out. Just follow the steps below:

When you wish to buy / avail of a product or service, click on “BUY” to add it to the Shopping Cart. This places the product in an electronic Shopping Cart. However, placing items in your Shopping Cart is not a commitment to buy.
Repeat the process to add more products to the Shopping Cart.
Click on “VIEW CART” to see the details (selected products and services) of your Shopping Cart. You can change quantities or remove items while viewing your Cart. You can also continue shopping by clicking on any other item that you wish to buy.
When you have completed shopping, click on “CHECK OUT” and you will be required to provide shipping details.
On providing the shipping details, your total charges appear on the billing panel above the shipping details panel.
On submitting the shipping details you are taken to the secure Citibank Payment Gateway.
On the Citibank Payment Gateway, select your Card type, Citibank Credit Card, Citibank ATM / Debit Card or Other Card.
Provide your Card details and CVV No. (in case of Credit Cards) or the HPIN (in case of Citibank Debit Card).
On clicking SUBMIT, these details are sent to Citibank’s server for authorization and authentication.
Upon approval your transaction is complete.

8.
How can I change quantities or remove items from my Shopping Cart?
If you wish to buy more than one item of the same kind, all you have to do is change the number in the quantity box. If you wish to remove an item from your Shopping Cart, change the quantity to “0” and click on “UPDATE”. The item is removed and your subtotal is automatically recalculated.

9.
When will my Credit Card be charged for my order?
Credit Cards are charged by the end of the business day of purchase.

10.
I'm sure I entered my Billing Address correctly, and my Credit Card is valid. Why can't I place my order?
This is possible when one of the fields entered for authentication does not match.

We recommend that you try re-entering the values correctly again. Also ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the payment on that transaction.

11.
When can I expect my order?
Your order will be delivered to your shipping address normally within 7 working days or as specified by the Merchant Establishment on the website.
