What is Citi Tap and Pay?

Citi Tap and Pay helps you make payments for purchases by simply tapping your
Tap and Pay Nokia mobile phone at the payment counter at select retail outlets in Bengaluru. The payments are debited from your Citibank MasterCard Credit Card. You can use the Citi Tap and Pay facility, like you would use a Credit Card.

How does Citi Tap and Pay work?

Citi Tap and Pay works on a cutting-edge new technology called NFC: Near Field Communication.

NFC is a wireless communication technology that works on mobile phones, it allows data transfer between 2 NFC enabled devices, and even allows financial transactions like payments.

Who can use Citi Tap and Pay?

You must be a holder of a Citibank-issued MasterCard Credit Card in Bengaluru to be eligible to sign up for Citi Tap and Pay, subject to conformance with Citibank's internally determined criteria for eligibility.

You will need a Nokia 6212 handset with a Vodafone connection.

You must have registered your Vodafone mobile phone number with Citibank to avail the Citi Tap and Pay facility.

What can you do with your Citi Tap and Pay?

Currently, this facility is available at Top 500 Merchant outlets in Bengaluru including Landmark, Shoppers Stop, etc.

You can use the Citi Tap and Pay facility, like you would use a Credit Card.

How to get started?

Citibank will send eligible customers a brochure by post, explaining the service.

If you would like to avail of the service, please indicate your consent by messaging TAP to 52484.

Citibank will process your request and open a virtual Citi Tap and Pay Credit Card for you. You will receive a letter with an explanation of the Card download process and the address of the Nokia Priority outlets in Bangalore where you can pick up your Nokia 6212 NFC phone. Please carry this letter to the store when you go to make the purchase.

You can get your Nokia 6212 handset from select Nokia outlets at Bengaluru for a discounted price. You will be one of 3000 eligible Citibank customers to take part in an exciting programme, which is the first of its kind in the country. You will have to purchase a Nokia 6212 phone at a special price of Rs. 5,000 (against an MRP of
Rs. 11,639) and use it at the specified retail stores to make payments for purchases on your Citibank Credit Card. Through a special cash back offer, you will be eligible for a cash back of Rs. 2,500, on making 6 purchases before October 31, 2009#, and a cash back of Rs. 5,000, on making 12 purchases before October 31, 2009#.

You can then download your Citi Tap and Pay Credit Card onto your new Nokia 6212 phone. The Citi Tap and Pay personnel at the store will guide you through this process.

Once your Credit Card details are downloaded to your phone, you are free to
Tap and Pay at all participating Merchant outlets.

Citi Tap and Pay complies with the latest security standards. The wallet on your phone is secured by a 4-digit password - so only you can use it to make payments.

Unlike conventional Credit Card transactions, where you hand over your Card to a person at a retail counter, with Citi Tap and Pay you hold on to your
