Send a foreign currency check/draft in your name to the nearest Citibank NRI Business Center. The Instrument should be payable/endorsed to Citibank N.A. A/C Name & Number.

We accept foreign currency check in the following currencies - USD, GBP, CAD, SGD, EUR, JPY, AUD.

For check (for all currencies) deposited at NRI Business Center in Singapore, request you to attach a letter along with the check. Check Processing Format letter given as a link below.

Please follow the simple guidelines below to enable faster processing of your check:

(a) Ensure that your

• Account Number and Name are correct & clear on check/draft
• Signature matches that provided to your bank at the time of account opening

(b) Make sure the check/draft is countersigned in case of an alteration

• In the payee's name
• In the date
• In the amount
• Or over-writing on the signature

(c) Ensure that the amount entered in words and the amount entered is correct.

The charges applicable will be as per the Schedule of Charges, which will be communicated, to you from time to time. Currently there are no charges for clearing of check credited into your Rupee Checking Account.

Check/Draft Clearing Timelines are as follows:

• All checks/drafts received in non-home currencies will go in for International Clearing and will processed after 14 working days from the date of credit of funds. For example, a USD check, payable at USA, but deposited in India. For checks/drafts of higher value, we may have a higher processing time
• All check/drafts payable in currencies which are not drawn at the Home Country will be sent for collection directly to the drawee bank. We can credit your account only upon receipt of check proceeds from the other bank. The clearing time will be a minimum 30 working days from the date of credit of funds. For example, a USD check, payable at UK, deposited in India

Check/ Draft Clearing Timelines are as follows:

Your account will be credited in 3 - 4 weeks. However, if the instrument is sent for collection directly to the other bank, we can credit your account only upon receipt of check proceeds from the other bank.

Your account will be debited at the foreign exchange rate applicable at the date of check return. The charges applicable will be as per the Schedule of Charges, which will be communicated, to you from time to time. Currently there are no charges for processing a bounced check in your Rupee Checking Account. However, the processing time for subsequent check credited into your account may be increased by up to 21 working days.
