Automated Clearing House Facility uses the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. ACH Network is a highly reliable and efficient nationwide electronic funds transfer system in the United States. ACH is governed by the NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) operating rules, which authorize inter-bank clearing of electronic payments.

 

Your Citibank Rupee Checking Account now allows you the added benefit of transferring funds Online from your bank account in the US, provided your bank in the US participates in ACH.

 

All you need to do is follow the simple process of registration for Automated Clearing House Facility and then get started with Online Remittances to your RCA.

To register for Automated Clearing House Facility for your Rupee Checking Account, you need to follow a simple two-step process.

Step 1:

Provide a few basic details of your Bank Account in the US:

• Your Account Number
• Account Name
• Bank where the Account is held
• Type of Account and
• Your Routing (ABA) Number

 

Step 2:

Verify your account by clicking on the 'Verify now' link within CBOL and quoting the sub-dollar amount you would see in your bank statement. This process takes 3-4 working days from the date of initiation.

To ensure that only you can authorize money transfers from your Source Account (USD Bank Account), we have a security measure called account verification process. This is essentially done by debiting and crediting a nominal amount (maximum of USD 1) to your Source Account. You will be required to enter the correct credit amount to your Source Account, to complete the verification process. It is vitally important for you to refer to the Bank Statement of your Source Account (account in US) and enter the exact amount in the space provided on our site. Your account gets locked for Automated Clearing House Facility transfers, if correct amount is not provided in three attempts.

 

You will be required to enter this dollar amount after 3-4 working days from the date of initiating registration. Saturdays, Sundays & US Holidays are not working days.

You can start transacting immediately after completing your registration for Automated Clearing House Facility. However the funds from your transaction will be released subject to verification of your account details. We will conduct a statutory verification process, which is simple, fast and takes just 4 working days.

Your Citibank Rupee Checking Account will get credited in 5 working days after you initiate a successful transfer.

• Confirm the transfer by clicking OK
• The transferred funds will reflect in your RCA after 5 working days

The ABA (American Bankers Association) Number or Routing Number is also called a 'Routing Transit' Number. It is an identification number assigned to each financial institution and each branch office of that financial institution. It was developed by the American Bankers Association in 1910 to help route payments among banks. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind about the ABA/Routing number is that, transmitting funds is not possible without it.

There are no charges for remitting funds to your RCA using the Automated Clearing House Facility.

AND

No. of Transactions Completed + No. of Transactions Pending <= 4

Definition of a Calendar Week/Month

A calendar week runs from Monday to Sunday. On our system the calendar week starts on Monday at 3.00 a.m. IST.

Similarly a calendar month is from the 1st till the 28th/30th/31st - depending on the number of days in the month.

Impact to limits in the event of a transaction being rejected for insufficient funds in my US account.

In case of a rejection due to insufficient funds your future transaction will be restricted as per below:

In the first instance of a reject

No of transaction in a week - From two transactions a week to one transaction per week Value of transactions in a week - From US$ 50,000 to US$ 30,000 per week

In case there is a second case of rejection due to insufficient the ACH facility will be withdrawn.

Any transaction that is not completed within the calendar week will get carried forward as a 'Pending' transaction for the following calendar week.

 

Thus two transactions may be initiated in a calendar week only if no pending transactions get carried forward from the previous week.

You can register as many US source accounts to one RCA as you want, and can view a listing of your Source Accounts by clicking on My registered 'US Bank Accounts'.

Your US source Account can be registered to only 1 RCA account.

You may register a US source account & do further transactions on ACH only through a single CARD Number & I-PIN on CBOL. i.e., only one account holder may register & transact on the account.

Yes, you can view details of all remittances received into your RCA for the last 6 months. You can view the same by clicking at 'Details of the remittances in the last six months'.
